The Florida climate is great for people, but it has allowed many exotic plants to take over and displace native aquatic plants in your pond. Whether your lake or pond exists for its beauty and recreational use or for storm water retention and pollution control, excessive growth of nuisance plants will have a negative effect on water quality and property values.

Aquatic Systems has invested in research and development throughout our 40 years in business to find long lasting solutions to control invasive plant growth, including the recent addition of a dedicated  Aquatic Plant Research Lab

Your team for lake weed issues:

  • Aquatic limnologists and biologists and environmental specialists to inspect, test, create and review management plans and in-house lab personnel for more detailed research and testing
  • Sales personnel with advanced biology degrees bring the knowledge and experience to offer you only the range of services that you need for general maintenance through complete restoration for lakes with recurring problems
  • Educated Account Reps and inside customer service personnel to respond to your needs and concerns quickly

Methods used to  bring back a healthy balance of  beneficial aquatic plants in your lake:

Biological control: These are especially good for long term control and maintenance. Biological controls that Aquatic Systems employ include:

  • Triploid grass carp are a safe and effective biological method that are often used in conjunction with other methods to bring about both short and long term control of weeds.
  • Reintroducing native plants to replace the exotic ones after they are removed.

Nutrient deactivation: Nutrients are generally a good thing, but anything in excess can lead to problems. Agents that bind to these nutrients and make them inaccessible to plants can quickly improve lake conditions giving other methods time to work.

Mechanical removal: Taking plants out by hand or machine is appropriate when the area of plant invasion is small or localized. Keep in mind that nothing will guarantee that a weed will never come back, but a program that includes regular site checks and mechanical removal of noxious plants before they take over will go a long way towards keeping your property in balance.

Product treatments: Aquatic Systems believes strongly in using the best management practices available for safe and cost responsible controls of weeds. When treatments are used, they are applied by well-trained, state certified Aquatic technicians and biologists. These EPA registered products have been tested and found to be safe.

A combination of two or more of these methods may be the best course of action for long term enjoyment of your lake or pond. Implementing an aquatic management program tailored to your specific needs will go a long way towards restoring the natural balance of the aquatic ecosystem of your lake or pond.

Rid your lake of these nuisances.
